Visa Platinum

Your Partner on the Journey, 3Rivers Visa Platinum

Yesterday, we shared a story about Falcon security, a feature on our Visa Platinum credit card that was able to protect a member who entered information onto a fraudulent website.  Today, we wanted to tell another member’s story about how our card helped them.

We work with people all the time who are looking to re-build their credit.  By looking at their credit history, and overall financial situation, we can recommend solutions that fit them and their unique money matters.  Building a solid credit history doesn’t happen overnight, and sometimes there are bumps in the road.  Many people feel that their only borrowing options after bankruptcy are high interest credit cards with annual fees and other service charges that do no favors for those looking to get back on track.  Fortunately, they aren’t the only option.

On the message board at myFico.com, people tell their stories.  They talk about re-establishing themselves after bankruptcy, offer credit tips, and talk about their credit card choices.

Credit Crusader, a 3Rivers member who posts on the board, talked about choosing 3Rivers.

WOW…looks like all the talk about using local credit unions is more than just talk!

I tested the waters with my local credit union here in Fort Wayne (IN), 3 Rivers FCU, as to getting a credit card to replace the usual suspects. I explained to them that I had a BK7 that was over 2 years discharged, but that I had no late pays and scores in the mid 600s.

Their response? We can probably give you a small limit card while you rebuild with us (I love credit unions…seriously, I do. They don’t see you as a number. They see you as an important part of their very being. They share your successes and grow with you – even after you make mistakes).

They encouraged me to apply…I did…

APPROVED!!!

$1,000 limit…13% APR…AF $0…minimum finance charge NONE

And here I was foolishly pining for Discover…when all along the perfect card was waiting for me at my credit union.

Thanks to all here at FICO Forums. Without you, I wouldn’t have the knowledge or confidence to build my credit and financial account relationships in the best manner possible!

You can view the original post here.  We want to extend a big thanks to Credit Crusader for the kind words, and for letting us share them on our blog.

Groundbreaking Peace of Mind, 3Rivers Visa Platinum

3Rivers Visa PlatinumHelping people with money matters everyday includes offering solutions that are designed to provide convenience for our members while also giving them peace of mind.

Not only does our 3Rivers Visa Platinum boast a great rate, no annual service charge, and free balance transfers, it also comes with Falcon security – which detects potential fraudulent activity and notifies you when your card and credit may be in danger.

That last item may seem like one of those “perks” that’s “nice to have” but it’s so much more. In fact, that one feature can make a tremendous difference in your life if it’s ever needed.

Fort Wayne Journal Gazette columnist Frank Gray recently shared with his readers, one of our member’s experiences. Here’s a small excerpt of Karen Lothamer’s story after she had completed a purchase at what she thought had been a reputable website…

“Within less than a minute Lothamer’s phone rang. It was 3Rivers Federal Credit Union, where she banks, wanting to know whether she really wanted to give her credit card number to that website.

That call ended up saving Karen from a susbstantial loss and damage to her credit. We also cancelled Karen’s card and issued a new one quickly so it would further protect her good name and minimally disrupt her everyday money matters.

We encourage you to read the rest of Gray’s article here, and also take a moment learn about protecting yourself from fraud on our website.
